Art through the Generations - . . . from teacher to students
A Tribute
A careful study of Coronado High School's annuals on file at the Coronado Public Library reveal that very few yearbooks are dedicated to individuals. However, the Coronado High School class of 1951 and The Beachcomber staff dedicated the 1951 yearbook to Esther Painter Hagstrom.
The Coronado Unified School District and high school gave a yearbook to Esther's father, Harry Painter, and only child, Robert Painter Hagstrom. Harry Painter was a Congregational minister who lived in Coronado from time to time. Robert Painter Hagstrom, Coronado High School class of 1948, was studying history at the University of California Berkeley when his mother died.
Coronado High School officials, teachers and staff members wrote tributes to Esther in a copy of the 1951 annual given to her father and son.
